Bayer Leverkusen vs Celtic Predictions, Betting Tips And Match Preview 25/11/21

Celtic travel to Germany to take on Leverkusen in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Ange Postecoglou’s men kept their European adventure alive with a 3-2 win over Ferencvaros in the last round of games. They’re now just a point behind Real Betis in the second qualifying position.

Leverkusen sit top of Group G on ten points. A point or more in this game for the Germans would guarantee their place in the knockout stages.

Gerardo Seoane’s men are unbeaten in the group stage so far. However their domestic form hasn’t been the best and they could become complacent.

The German club needs at least a point here to progress, so they’re unlikely to name a weakened team. Celtic are on a decent run at the moment though and could prove difficult opposition.

Celtic come into this having won eight of their last ten games in all competitions. Their only defeat in that run came against Leverkusen in the reverse fixture.

The only other blip in that impressive record was a 0-0 draw against Livingston at the end of October. Since then, Celtic have won all three of their games.

A draw would not be the worst possible result for both sides here. Leverkusen would qualify and Celtic would go into a ‘shootout’ game against Betis in the last round of games.

The Bhoys definitely have some unfinished business with the Seville club. It could be a special night at Paradise if they welcome Betis needing to win.

Below, we’ll preview this Europa League fixture and provide our predictions, the team news, our recommended bets and more…

Ange Postecoglou has his sights set on the Europa League knockouts…

Bayer Leverkusen vs Celtic Predictions

The hosts have been near perfect in the group stages of this competition. They remain unbeaten, having won three and drawn one game so far.

They only managed a single win in all competitions in the entire month of October though. However, they bounced back when they took on Betis in this competition earlier in the month.

A Moussa Diaby brace was added to by Florain Wirtz and Nadiem Amiri to secure a 4-0 win. That victory also meant that Celtic still have a chance of progressing in the Europa League.

Leverkusen are missing some key players at the moment, but still managed to win 1-0 on the weekend. They look to be getting their confidence back, but might just be missing that cutting edge.

That will suit Celtic just fine, as they look to take advantage of a slightly changed Leverkusen side. It certainly won’t be easy for the visitors though.

The Germans have won both of their home games so far in the competition. They’ve scored a total of six goals in those games, conceding just once.

Gerardo Seoane’s side are hardly invincible at home, however. They’ve lost three of their last five games at the BayArena.

Celtic visit Leverkusen on a run of five consecutive away wins in all competitions. That includes the 3-2 win over Ferencvaros in the last round of games.

A win in this game would leave progression completely in Celtic’s hands. It is going to be an incredibly tall order though and they may be better setting up more defensively.

A point would suit Leverkusen, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Celtic Head to Head

In terms of a head to head record between these two, we only have one game to go off. That was the relatively comfortable 4-0 win for Leverkusen back in September.

Piero Hincapie scored his first goal of the season to set the Germans on their way. Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz doubled the lead before half time.

A handball from Cameron Carter-Vickers gave Leverkusen a penalty ten minutes into the second half. Lucas Alario stepped up and made it 3-0 to the visitors.

Substitute Amine Adli made it 4-0 in the dying second of the game. It probably wasn’t the right reflection of how the game played out, but Leverkusen were ruthless on the night

We’re expecting this game to play out a little differently this time. With changes to the home side expected, and only a point being needed, it may be a slightly less entertaining game.

The hosts have several injury worries heading into this game. Mitchel Bakker and Charles Aranguiz are expected to miss out, along with Baumgartlinger.

Lucas Alario, who scored against Celtic last time, is also a doubt. Patrick Schick, who would have been his stand-in, is also out injured.

As a result, Leverkusen are expected to field the same XI that beat Bochum on the weekend. That will see Hradecky keep his place in goal.

Edmond Tapsoba and Jonathan Tah are expected to partner each other in defence. Jeremie Frimpong is likely to start at right back, with Daley Sinkgraven at left back.

Demirbay, Andrich, Amiri and Diaby are expected to make up the midfield four for the Germans. Florian Wirtz could play attacking midfield behind Adli, who is expected to lead the attack.

Kyogo is looking to score in his third consecutive Europa League game…

With some injury issues of their own, Celtic will also field a changed side from the last meeting. Our Bayer Leverkusen v Celtic predictions do expect Joe Hart to retain his place in goal.

Ange Postecoglou is likely to field the same team that beat Ferencvaros last time out. That will see Carter-Vickers play at centre back. Stephen Welsh looks set to deputise for the injured Carl Starfelt.

Anthony Ralston is expected to start the game at right back. Josip Juranovic is expected to get the nod to start at left back for the Celts.

Nir Bitton is likely to start the game in centre midfield. With Tom Rogic out, David Turnbull and Callum McGregor are expected to complete the midfield.

Liel Abada and Jota are expected to start the game on the attacking wings for the visitors. Kyogo Furuhashi, who has scored in his last two Europa League games, is expected to lead the attacking line.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Celtic Betting Tips

The home side are the favourites to win this game. The trades have the hosts priced at 1/2 on in our Bayer Leverkusen v Celtic match bets

A draw would not be the worst result for either side here. If you think this one will end all square, you can back the draw at 10/3.

If Celtic get the win here, it would be huge for their qualification chances. The traders don’t seem to think that’s going to happen though. The visitors are a big price at 9/2 to win the game.

With a weakened Leverkusen side, we’re not expecting another big score here. A point would do for both teams and we think this one will end all square.
