Blackpool vs West Brom Predictions, Betting Tips And Match Preview 23/11/21

Blackpool welcome West Brom to Bloomfield Road in the Championship on Tuesday night.

The Seasiders come into this game sitting in 10th place in the Championship table. West Brom, meanwhile, sit in third place, in the first of the play off places.

The home side are only three points off the play off places themselves. A win here would certainly help them to remain in contention, especially if other results go their way.

Neil Critchley’s men had a very good October, winning four of their five games that month. They are yet to win in November though, losing one and drawing the other two so far.

Earlier in the season, West Brom looked as though they were going to make it a three horse title race. They’ve fallen away in recent months though, winning just five of their last ten games.

West Brom’s warm up for this was a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield on the weekend. After conceding within the first ten minutes, the Baggies were unable to turn it around, despite dominating possession.

Blackpool’s weekend game against Swansea was slightly more positive. After falling behind in the first half, The Tangerines got a late equaliser to share the points.

For West Brom, a win in this game could revitalise their hopes of automatic promotion. Bournemouth’s defeat to Derby on Sunday truly blew the title race back open.

Below, we’ll preview this Championship fixture and provide our predictions, the team news, our recommended bets and more…

Valerien Ismael could get his West Brom side back into automatic promotion contention…

Blackpool vs West Brom Predictions

This is a really tough game to call. Both sides are in very inconsistent form at the moment and both have plenty to play for here.

After a poor start to the season, Blackpool have significantly improved their home form. In their last five home games the Lancashire club have lost just once on their own turf.

For West Brom, it’s quite the opposite. The Baggies were going strong on the road at the start of the season, however that’s now tailed off.

Valerien Ismael’s men have lost their last four games away from home. In that time, they’ve also only scored one goal. That will be a big concern for the West Brom fans ahead of this game.

One thing that Blackpool seem to bring to his season is guaranteed goals. The Seasiders haven’t played out a single goalless draw all season. Six of their last ten games have also seen both teams score.

West Brom have only played out a single goalless draw themselves this season. The Baggies have seen two or more match goals in six of their last ten games.

With the chance to get back into the race for an automatic promotion place, West Brom need to win this. That’s easier said than done, but they definitely have the players to get the job done.

Karlan Grant is West Brom’s top goal scorer with eight Championship goals this season. He’ll be hoping he can add to his tally in this game.

Blackpool vs West Brom Head to Head

These two clubs have hardly met each other over the course of their long and respective histories.

The first meeting came back in 2007 in the Championship. West Brom won that one 2-1, before taking the reverse fixture 3-1 later that season.

They met again a couple of seasons later. West Brom visited Bloomfield Road and ran out 3-2 winners. They then welcomed Blackpool to The Hawthorns and won that game 3-2 also.

Both clubs were promoted that season and met again in the 2010/11 Premier League campaign. Blackpool won their home game 2-1, with West Brom winning the reverse 3-2.

The two teams didn’t meet again for ten years, in January this year. In the FA Cup Third Round tie, Blackpool eventually won on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

That’s the closest we have to recent form to inform us of how this could go. It doesn’t give us much to go off though and this is a tricky one to call.

Blackpool Team News – D D L W W

The hosts are expected to name the same XI that drew with QPR earlier in the month. That would see Daniel Grimshaw retain his place in goal for the home side.

James Husband and Marvin Ekpiteta will likely be partnering one another in the centre of defence. Jordan Gabriel is expected to start at right back, with Reece James at left back.

Kenny Dougall and Ryan Wintle are likely to start the game in centre midfield for the hosts. Owen Dale could start on the left side of midfield, with Josh Bowler on the right.

Gary Madine and Keshi Anderson have built up a good partnership up front for The Tangerines. They’re expected to start together again here, with Madine being rested on the weekend.

Jake Livermore could miss the game through suspension, depending on the outcome of West Brom’s appeal…

West Brom Team NewsL D W L W

The visitors are expected to name a side similar to the one that lost on the weekend. Our Blackpool v West Brom predictions expect Sam Johnstone to keep his place in goal.

A defensive back three is likely to start again here. That should be made up of Kyle Bartley, Cedric Kipre and Matt Clarke.

Alex Mowatt is a doubt due to injury. Meanwhile West Brom are awaiting the result of their appeal against Jake Livermore’s red card from the weekend.

If neither player is available here, it could be Robert Snodgrass and Jayson Molumby starting in the centre of midfield.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman is expected to start in the right wing back position. Conor Townsend is likely to start the game at left wing back.

Karlan Grant and Grady Diangana are expected to start in attacking midfield for the visitors. Matt Phillips is likely to be asked to spearhead the attack up front.

Blackpool vs West Brom Betting Tips

The home side are the outsiders to win this game. The hosts are priced up at 12/5 in our Blackpool v West Brom match bets

Both sides are struggling to get wins of late. If you think this one will end in a draw, you can back that at 12/5.

The Baggies are the favourites to get the win here. If you think they will do that, then you’re in for a bit of value. The visitors are priced up at 21/20 to get the win.

Given the inconsistent form of both of these teams, it seems unlikely either will win. For that reason, we’re expecting this one to end all square.
