Brazil vs Peru Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Preview – 11/09/19

It’s a repeat of the 2019 Copa America final in Los Angeles’ Memorial Coliseum and our Brazil vs Peru predictions find it hard to make a case for anything other than the Selecao winning.

Tite’s men come into this game on the back of a 17-match unbeaten run which includes the 3 – 1 Copa America final win over Peru in Rio de Janeiro earlier this summer.

Dare we mention the 5 – 0 thrashing Peru suffered at the hands of Brazil in the group stage. Three of their past five games ended in defeat. The two wins, however, were to nil.

Colombia briefly exposed Brazil’s frailties in Miami last week until Neymar Jr. returned to the international fray, salvaging the Selecao’s unbeaten run, as well as their pride.

Can Peru turn their form around with less than a year to the next Copa America? A pulsating encounter in Florida awaits!

Will it be all smiles once again for Brazil?

Brazil vs Peru Predictions

Seventeen without defeat (W13, D4) since Belgium schooled them in the World Cup 2018 quarter-final suggests Brazil are building a head of steam as they head toward another Copa America.

However, questions over the standard of opposition raise some questions. Colombia offered more with two quick-fire goals last week. Tite’s men answered some of them; the durability which surfaced against Panama, Czech Republic and Peru previously was evident once again.

In those four matches, the Selecao either trailed or conceded an equaliser. They didn’t, however, capitulate as they may have previously. They knuckled down and won two of the four (D2).

It’s easy to read too much into friendlies and Brazil can only beat the opposition placed in front of them during their grandiosely entitled “Brasil Global Tour”.

More important were the Copa America wins which saw them concede just once, to Peru in the final. The other five saw 10 goals scored (W3, D2) before they tore La Blanquirroja to pieces.

Neymar Jr proved his importance with his goal – his first start for club or country this season – against Colombia, as well as an assist for Casemiro’s opener in Miami.

Will Tite push him again in a more straightforward match? Why not; it gives the public what they want and buys his front-running cohorts Richarlison and Roberto Firmino more time to build a relationship on the pitch.

Peru remain an enigma. Tipped to do well at Russia 2018, they froze on the big stage in what was a tough group (W1, L2).

They made amends at the Copa America, reaching the final after recording some fine wins. 3 – 0 over defending champions Chile was superb and primed the world for a classic final. It never quite happened and our Brazil vs Peru predictions don’t point to a quick dose of revenge.

Last season was a mixed bag for La Blanquirroja, losing eight of their sixteen internationals (W5, D3). 2019-20 continued that trend; one game, one defeat in New Jersey with Ecuador triumphing one goal to nil.

Therein is Peru’s problem. In front of goal, it is feast or famine. Twelve of their last 17 games saw them score one goal or less, with six blanks. The frequency of those scoreless games is increasing; four of the last seven saw them fail to score.

The markets aren’t favouring the Peruvians ending that run any time soon, as we shall later see.

Brazil vs Peru Head to Head

The two nations met on 46 previous occasions with Peru winning just four (D9, L33). Incredibly, only once has there been a goalless draw, back in 1952.

Brazil won the last three meetings and six of the last seven (L1). Stretching back further, they are unbeaten in 19 of the last 20 (W13, D6).

Brazil Team News

Neymar Jr’s return to the international side meant Real Madrid’s hot talent Vinicius Jr missed out on his debut against Colombia. The Selecao’s record against Peru means he may get his chance in this game.

Tite is expected to ring the changes for the second leg of their American adventure.

Peru Team News

Peru are reshaping after Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfan’s injuries. Take two leading scorers out of any side and there are problems.

Kevin Quevedo is likely to be the latest forward to try to solve the issue of a goalshy attack which is where we think the value for the visitors is in our Brazil vs Peru predictions.

Brazil vs Peru Betting Tips

The ‘home side’ is naturally the favourite and their 43/100 odds with Novibet underline just how sided this match is expected to be. Peru are 29/5 while the draw is 7/2.

With Peru struggling in front of goal, the odds on under 1.5 goals at 21/100 aren’t particularly attractive. However, specifying the exact number of goals shows value with no goals (23/20) and 1 goal (7/5) in the Away Team’s Goal Markets worth considering.
