Premier League new boys Brentford host Brighton in one of the multiple Saturday 3pm Premier League kick offs.
Thomas Frank’s side have been a breath of fresh air this season. They’ve been reminiscent of Leeds’ first season upon their return to England’s top division.
They’ve already won plenty of neutral fans, with their ‘all or nothing’ approach to their games. It’s that approach that has seen them enjoy a good start to their Premier League campaign.
Their 2-0 win over Arsenal was not only a good result, but an excellent performance. It can be said that The Gunners weren’t up to much, but Brentford were the better team.
Brentford’s start to the season has been so positive that they’re actually unbeaten so far in three games. The Bees currently sit 10th with a win and two draws so far.
Brighton have enjoyed a similarly positive start to their Premier League season. Graham Potter’s men won their first two games of the campaign.
They did lose their last game before the international break. However, their two previous wins leave them sitting in 8th place in the Premier League ahead of this game.
Brentford love to press high up the field and put their opponents under pressure. Brighton like to play possession football and control the game.
It’s a clash of styles that looks set to deliver an entertaining 90 minutes of football. Who will come out on top? We’ll soon find out.
Below, we’ll preview this Premier League fixture and provide our predictions, the team news, our recommended bets and more…
Brentford vs Brighton Predictions
The home side will be full of confidence heading into this and will be keen to preserve their unbeaten record.
They started their Premier League campaign in perfect fashion with a comfortable win over Arsenal. Sergi Canos Christian Norgaard got on the scoresheet to secure a comfortable 2-0 victory.
The Bees then faced a trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace. It wasn’t to be as eventful however, as the teams played out a 0-0 draw.
A facile 3-1 win against Forest Green in the EFL Cup followed, before Brentford travelled to Aston Villa.
The visitors got off to a flyer, with Ivan Toney scoring his first Premier League goal after just 7 minutes. It didn’t take long for Villa to respond, however.
Just six minutes after taking the lead, Brentford found themselves level. A fantastic strike from outside of the box from Emiliano Buendia made it 1-1 and that’s how it ended.
Brighton began their Premier League campaign with a solid 2-1 win over Brighton. James Tarkowski rose highest from a corner to give Burnley the lead.
The Clarets looked as though they were going to hold on, until Neal Maupay levelled on 73 minutes. Alexis Mac Allister fired Brighton into the lead five minutes later and the visitors won 2-1.
That was followed by a more comfortable 2-0 win over Watford at the Amex. First half goals from Shane Duffy and Neal Maupay secured the three points on that day.
Another 2-0 win followed against Cardiff in the EFL Cup, before Brighton’s only defeat so far this season. Everton visited the Amex and ran out 2-0 winners courtesy of Demarai Gray and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Brentford vs Brighton Head to Head
These two clubs haven’t met since Brighton were last in the Championship. Since 2014, these two sides have met on seven occasions.
The clash in 2014 was an eventful 3-2 win for Brentford. That was followed by a 2-0 win for Brighton in the FA Cup, before Brentford did the league double with a 1-0 victory.
The following season produced a 0-0 draw at the Brentford Community Stadium. The reverse fixture saw Brighton win 3-0 at the Amex.
In the 2016/17 Championship season, Brentford took the first meeting 2-0. The reverse fixture was a classic 3-3 draw which had everything from a missed penalty, to a 96th minute equaliser.
Of the last 20 meetings between these two clubs, Brentford have eight wins to Brighton’s seven. The remaining five games ended all square.
That leaves the head to head record pretty tight heading into this clash. Even the most recent meetings aren’t recent enough to give us an indicator of how this could go.
Brentford Team News – L D W D W
Thomas Frank is likely to stick to the 3-5-2 formation that, so far, has served his team well.
That would see Spaniard David Raya start in goal for the home side here. He will be protected by a back line of Kristoffer Ajer, Pontus Jansson and Ethan Pinnock.
Sergi Canos and Rico Henry are expected to occupy the wings for the hosts. Christian Norgaard and Vitaly Janelt are expected to start the game in the centre of midfield.
Saman Goddos will start in the number 10 position, he’ll be tasked with bringing the creative spark to Brentford’s game.
Ahead of Goddos, Bryan Mbuemo and Ivan Toney are expected to lead the attacking line. The latter opened his Premier League account with a goal against Aston Villa before the international break.
Brighton Team News – L W W W L
The visitors are expected to go with a 3-4-2-1 formation for this game. Our Brentford v Brighton predictions expect Robert Sanchez to start the game in goal for the Seagulls.
A back three of Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster are expected to start in front of Sanchez.
Midfielder Yves Bissouma has been Brighton’s stand out player so far this season. He will start in the centre, most likely alongside Adam Lallana.
Pascal Gross and Jakub Moder will occupy either wing for the visitors. Leandro Trossard and Alexis Mac Allister will start in attacking midfield.
Neal Maupay, who already has two Premier League goals this season, will start up front. The Frenchman is by far Brighton’s biggest attacking threat and will be a handful for Brentford’s defence.
Brentford vs Brighton Betting Tips
Despite their good start to the season, the home side are the 9/5 outsiders in our Brentford v Brighton match bets.
The draw is priced up at 21/10. That could represent some value, as two of the last five games have ended all square.
Brighton are the 13/8 favourites to win this game. Graham Potter’s men are a competitive side, and the odds suggest they’ll be up to the task.
With their own fans to spur them on, we think the home side could be good value to the three points here. We’re expecting a cracking game of football.
