Burnley vs Norwich Predictions, Betting Tips And Match Preview 01/10/21

Burnley welcome Norwich to Turf Moor in the Premier League in one of Saturday’s 3pm kick offs.

It’s not been a good start to the campaign for either side. Norwich occupy the bottom spot in the league table, with Burnley keeping them company in 19th place.

It’s still early days in the season, and a win could kick start the campaign for either of these. It’s concerning that these are two of the five teams yet to register a league win so far.

Burnley’s start to the season was far from ideal. Back to back defeats to Brighton and Liverpool left them pointless heading into the end of August.

A battling draw with Leeds followed as The Clarets claimed their first point. The Lancashire club were unfortunate not to get the win after taking the lead. Patrick Bamford broke Burnley hearts with a late equaliser that day.

Two consecutive defeats to Everton and Arsenal followed to keep Burnley near the foot of the table. Last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Leicester was definitely a step in the right direction for the home side.

A late disallowed goal prevented Burnley from taking all three points that day. It will have provided a massive confidence boost for Sean Dyche’s men heading into this.

Norwich are one of the modern yo-yo clubs, constantly being promoted and immediately relegated almost annually. The fact that they remain pointless so far indicates this could be yet another relegation-battling season.

The Canaries have lost all six of their Premier League games. Across those games, they’ve only found the net on two occasions.

Below, we’ll preview this Premier League fixture and provide our predictions, the team news, our recommended bets and more…

Burnley manager Sean Dyche may be smiling after Saturday’s game against Norwich…

Burnley vs Norwich Predictions

This is Burnley’s perfect chance to get their first league win of the season. Being at home, against a Norwich side without a win so far, it all sounds pretty straightforward.

The hosts will still have to get the job done though, but they have more than enough quality to do it here.

Striker Chris Wood only has one goal to his name so far this season. The New Zealand forward will fancy his chances of adding to his tally in this game.

The stats are encouraging, for Wood and Burnley. In Norwich’s three Premier League games on the road this season, they’ve conceded an eye watering eight goals.

Norwich have also failed to score a single goal away from home so far this season. That will be a massive worry for Canaries manager Daniel Farke.

The visitor’s awful run doesn’t look like it’s going to come to and end anytime soon. To have goalscoring issues, or defensive issues, can be a temporary setback in football. Having issues with both is a sign of something much more concerning.

Teemu Pukki has been Norwich’s only real bright spark this season. The Finnish striker has scored Norwich’s only two league goals so far in this campaign.

Burnley pride themselves on being difficult to beat. You can rest assured that James Tarkowski and Ben Mee are feeling confident about defending against this Norwich team.

Sean Dyche will no doubt instruct his team to provide plenty of crosses for Chris Wood to attack in the box. That could be the focal point of Burnley’s attack.

Daniel Farke is under pressure, with Norwich failing to register a single point so far this season…

Burnley vs Norwich Head to Head

These two historic clubs have played plenty of times over the years. However the more recent clashes are what we need to focus on here.

When these two last met at Turf Moor in the 2019/20 season, it was Burnley who came out on top. A first half Chris Wood brace secured a comfortable 2-0 win that day.

Norwich got some revenge in the FA Cup in January 2020. Grant Hanley and Josip Drmic helped the Canaries to a 2-1 win.

The most recent clash between these two came in July last year. The game ended 2-0 to The Clarets, thanks to a Chris Wood strike and a Ben Godfrey own goal.

There were also two red cards for Norwich that day. Emiliano Buendia and Drmic were both sent for an early bath before the half time whistle was blown.

Chris Wood has three goals in his last three games against Norwich. He’ll be confident he can add to that tally here.

Burnley Team News – D W L L D

Sean Dyche likes to stick to a classic 4-4-2 formation as much as possible. He’s built his Burnley team and his tactics around the formation and it works for them.

Nick Pope is expected to keep his place in goal for the hosts in this. Tarkowski and Mee are fully expected to be the centre back partnership in front of him.

Matthew Lowton and Charlie Taylor are the most likely to fill in the fullback positions. Dwight McNeil will be asked to operate on one wing. Maxwell Cornet is expected to keep his place on the other flank after scoring last week.

Ashley Westwood will be asked to anchor the midfield, along with Josh Brownhill. Chris Wood will start up front for the hosts, he is expected to be partnered by Ashley Barnes.

Matej Vydra has been getting more game time for Burnley of late. The Czech forward may miss out this time, but will be an option off the bench.

Teemu Pukki is Norwich’s only goal scorer in the Premier League so far this season…

Norwich Team NewsL L L L L

Daniel Farke has tinkered with his team over the last few games, but he still can’t find a winning formula.

Our Burnley v Norwich predictions expect Tim Krul to retain his place in goal for the visitors. Grant Hanley and Ozan Kabak will partner one another in defence.

Max Aarons is likely to play at right back. Manchester United loanee Brandon Williams is expected to start the game at left back.

Mathias Normann will start the game in holding midfield. Kenny McLean could be brought into the midfield, along with Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour.

Norwich’s sole goal scorer Teemu Pukki will lead the attacking line. Joshua Sargent could partner the Fin up top, but is yet to score in the league this season.

Burnley vs Norwich Betting Tips

The home side are unsurprising favourites to win this game. The traders have the hosts priced at 5/6 in our Burnley v Norwich match bets

These two have only played out two draws in their last 10 clashes in all competitions. If you think this one will end all square, you can back the draw at 13/5.

Given their terrible form on the road so far this season, Norwich are the rank outsiders. Farke’s men are priced at a huge 3/1 just to win the game.

It’s hard to see anything other than a Burnley win here. That makes their price in the full time result market very tempting. We’ve found some other bets that may tickle your fancy too…
