Championship betting tips: Aston Villa take on local rivals West Brom at Villa Park as Norwich and Bolton, two sides at opposite ends of the table, battle it out at the Macron Stadium.
Aston Villa vs West Brom
Both sides have struggled to pick up wins of late. West Brom have won just one of their last five games (W1 D2 L2) but have been surprisingly impressive on the road. Away from The Hawthorns, the Baggies have won six of their last seven games, with a 2-1 defeat at Blackburn the only hiccup in that run.
While Aston Villa have just one win in their last nine, with five of those games finishing as draws. At home it’s not much better, having won just once in eight – a 2-1 victory over rock bottom side Ipswich.
But both attacks have been in fine form, with 20-goal striker Tammy Abraham at Dean Smith’s disposal and Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez hitting 32 goals between them for Darren Moore so far this season.
I can’t pick between the two sides but I can see heaps of goals. Seven of Villa’s last nine home games have resulted in over 3.5 goals and all nine have finished over 2.5 goals, while there’s been a mammoth 14 goals in West Brom’s last four games.
Bolton vs Norwich
Norwich ended an unbeaten run of six games (W3 D3) when the fell to a surprise 3-1 defeat to Preston last time out. But they can regain top spot with a win today, with current leaders Leeds not playing until next weekend.
Daniel Farke will be looking for a reaction from his men and where better to get back to winning ways than at relegation strugglers Bolton, who they beat 3-2 at Carrow Road in the reverse fixture.
Bolton sit 23rd in the Championship standings, three points adrift of safety. But Phil Parkinson’s men did earn a much-needed win 1-0 against eighth-placed Birmingham last weekend to end a winless run of six games (D1 L5).
However, their home form isn’t much to shout about. In fact, Bolton have the worst home record in the division after taking just 13 points from their 16 games in front of their home fans. While Norwich boast the league’s best away record, taking 28 points from 16 matches.
Farke’s men should leave the north west with all three points but I can see Bolton scoring, with Norwich having kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 games. Norwich to beat Bolton and both teams to score is at a tempting 13/5 with Novibet.
