EFL Cup betting tips: Don’t rule out Norwich and Burton causing upsets against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest this evening.
Bournemouth vs Norwich
Bournemouth have been in devastating form in recent weeks. After losing 4-0 to Burnley last month, the Cherries are unbeaten with four victories in their last five games.
They’re also yet to lose in their seven matches at Dean Court (W5 D2), which includes both of their EFL Cup wins over MK Dons and Blackburn.
But there is hope for Norwich after Eddie Howe made a host of changes in the last round against Blackburn. The Championship side pushed Bournemouth all the way before Callum Wilson came off the bench to clinch a 3-2 win in the 94th minute.
And Norwich have been in fine form themselves. They had a slow start to the campaign but have now moved up to fourth in the Championship thanks to a run of three wins on the bounce.
They’ve also lost just one of their nine games on the road this season (W5 D2 L1) and managed to beat Premier League outfit Cardiff 3-1 in the second round in south Wales.
We think Daniel Farke’s side could spring a surprise tonight. Norwich double chance against Bournemouth is at 13/10 with Novibet or a straight win can be found at 17/4.
Burton vs Nottingham Forest
Burton manager Nigel Clough meets his former club Nottingham Forest where he made over 400 appearances and won the EFL Cup twice as a player.
The Brewers have already knocked out the likes of Aston Villa and Burnley to reach the fourth round of the competition and look in good shape to continue that run.
They narrowly lost to League One title contenders Peterborough last time out but were unbeaten in three before that (W2 D1).
Forest have also claimed a couple of scalps in Newcastle and Stoke to reach the fourth round of the EFL Cup for the first time since the 2004/05 campaign.
But with the Aitor Karanka’s side sitting seventh in the Championship, you have to wonder how seriously the Spaniard will take the competition.
We think Burton’s odds of 12/5 to beat Nottingham Forest at the Pirelli Stadium are too tempting to turn down.
