Leeds vs West Brom Predictions, Betting Tips And Match Preview 23/05/21

Leeds United welcome already relegated West Brom in one of Sunday’s ten Premier League clashes.

As is tradition on the final day, all 20 Premier League clubs will be in action at the same time on Sunday – 4pm. And Leeds will be hoping they can go out with a bang in front of their own fans for the first time in over a year.

The hosts come into this on the back of a solid 2-0 win over Southampton in midweek. Second half goals from Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts gave the Whites all three points.

That was their third straight win in 10 days. It gives them a chance to move up the table again on the final day with a win here.

In stark contrast, West Brom arrive at Elland Road following a disheartening defeat. After riding out the storm against West Ham in the first half, they crumbled and succumbed to a 3-1 loss.

That was the third straight defeat for the Baggies, but it is of little consequence given their situation.

After giving themselves a slim chance of Premier League survival, they failed to take advantage. Sam Allardyce will find it hard going motivating his men for this final outing.

Below, we’ll preview this Premier League fixture and provide our predictions, the team news, our recommended bets and more…

Rodrigo is in good scoring form for Leeds…

Leeds vs West Brom Predictions

Things couldn’t be going for better for Leeds right now. After a very impressive 3-1 win over Tottenham in early may, they followed up a 4-0 demolition of Burnley a week later.

Tuesday night’s victory over Southampton means they can finish as high as eighth if results go their way. Things were looking very different a couple of weeks ago, as it looked as though the Leeds engine had run out of gas.

It’s no surprise to see Leeds’ turn in fortunes coincide with the return of forward Rodrigo. The 30 year old Spaniard has scored three goals in four appearances since he’s been back in the side.

Bamford has also rediscovered his scoring touch. The forward has netted twice in three games to take his tally to 16 Premier League goals this season. Will he add to that in this game?

The manner of West Brom’s capitulation in midweek against West Ham seem to show there’s little fight left in them. They won’t want their last game in the Premier League to be a defeat.

They gave Liverpool a scare last weekend going up 1-0 thanks to Hal Robson-Kanu. It took a dramatic last-gasp goal from Reds keeper Allison to give the Merseyside club the three points on that day.

If they turn up with the same attitude at Elland Road, they just might stand a chance. Though the performance against West Ham does raise some questions about their commitment.

On a positive note for the Baggies, Matheus Pereira is in fine scoring form. The Brazilian has scored six goals in the last nine games for the club.

Leeds are flying high at the moment and it’s tough to see anything other than a home win. Don’t count a Sam Allardyce team going down without a fight, though.

Read on for our Leeds vs West Brom predictions and best bets.

Matheus Pereira has been West Brom’s best player this season…

Leeds vs West Brom Head to Head

The last five meetings between these sides have seen Leeds win three. West Brom have had a single win in that time and the other game ended in a draw.

The most recent clash between these saw Leeds cruise to a 5-0 win at The Hawthorns. Rodrigo and Raphinha were on the scoresheet that day for the Yorkshire side.

Before that, the clubs met twice during the 2019/20 Championship season. Leeds won the first meeting 1-0, while the follow up finished all square at 1-1.

In the 2018/19 season, it was honours even, as both sides won their home games. West Brom ran out 4-1 winners earlier the season, before Leeds recorded a 4-0 win at the next meeting.

Bizarrely, West Brom have scored an own goal in each of their last three meetings with Leeds United. It sent them on their way to their 5-0 win last time, will it happen again?

If there’s anything the head to head records between these tell us, it’s that there’s going to be goals. Add in the fact that there’s nothing to play for and the players can go out there pressure free. It could end up being a cracker!

There’s not too many on the sidelines for Leeds for this clash.

Forward Helder Costa has been a bit part player this season for Leeds. The 27 year old is set to miss this game with the back injury.

It’s not been a season to remember for Robin Koch. The German defender has missed massive chunks of the season to injury and he’s set to miss the finale, too.

Mateusz Klich has had a few controversial moments in his Leeds career. Our Leeds v West Brom predictions expect the Polish midfielder to miss this game

However, it doesn’t appear to be an injury keeping him out. The rumours surrounding his lack of involvement are due to a decision taken by manager Marcelo Bielsa. If true, it doesn’t look good for Kilch’s Leeds future.

Patrick Bamford is expected to start upfront for Leeds in this clash…

West Brom Team News – L L L D D

West Brom come into this with almost a fully fit squad.

Branislav Ivanovic has barely featured in the Premier League since January for the Baggies. The Serbian defender has been out for the majority of the time with an injury.

It looks unlikely the former Chelsea man will stay another season at the Hawthorns. He could return to his homeland for a swansong season, or he may decide to call time on his career now.

Robert Snodgrass has been out since mid-April with a back injury. The Scotland midfielder has only managed 90 minutes on five occasions this season.

Other than that, Sam Allardyce has a full squad to choose from. Will he go defensive? Or go all guns blazing in an attempt to outscore Leeds?

Leeds vs West Brom Betting Tips

With the form Leeds are currently in, it’s no surprise to see them favourites to win this. The traders have the hosts priced at 9/20 in Leeds v West Brom match bets.

The draw is a massive price, all things considered. That shows where the traders’ heads are at in regards to this fixture. If you think having nothing to play for will result in a draw, you can back that 4/1.

Even bigger still are the odds for the Baggies to win this. West Brom have only won two games on the road all season and their current form reflects the massive 5/1 price.

It’s difficult to say what West Brom are going to turn up for this. If Pereira is in the mood, it could end up being a great game of football.

We know what to expect from this Leeds side, though. Running, and plenty of it. They have some fantastic attacking talent in their team and they’re expected to show their class in this.
