Preston vs Fulham Predictions, Betting Tips And Match Preview 27/11/21

Preston welcome Fulham to Deepdale in the Championship’s early Saturday kick off.

The Lilywhites find themselves sitting mid-table in the Championship heading into this. Fulham, meanwhile, sit top of the table still just a single point clear of Bournemouth in second.

The home side’s warm up for this game was a good 2-1 win against Middlesbrough in midweek. Former Manchester United defender Paddy McNair put Boro ahead in the first half.

Two goals in four minutes from substitutes Ched Evans and Emil Riis turned the game on its head. Truth to be told, it was a bit of a smash and grab from the Lancashire club in the North East.

Fulham welcomed Derby to Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening in a first versus last clash. The game didn’t really pan out as many suspected it would (us included!), ending 0-0.

That draw ended Fulham’s winning run at seven games, but did ensure they remain top of the table. Bournemouth are still breathing down their neck in second, but a win here would help massively in their title push.

Preston were responsible for ending Bournemouth’s unbeaten league run, which was the longest in England at the time. They clearly have the potential to cause an upset here, but it won’t be easy.

Fulham boast the second best away record in the league so far this season. They’ve collected 10 of a possible 15 points on the road, with only Middlesbrough managing more with 11.

Below, we’ll preview this Championship fixture and provide our predictions, the team news, our recommended bets and more…

Preston vs Fulham Predictions

The onus is definitely on the visitors to win this game, with things being so right at the top of the table. Preston have their own aspirations though and a win here could take them within touching distance of the play off places.

Fulham have a few long term injuries in their squad, but have coped as well as they possibly could have. It’s testament to the strength in depth of Marco Silva’s squad.

Despite The Cottagers’ fantastic away from this season, it’s on the road that they’ve struggled most. Of the three league losses they’ve suffered so far, two of those have been away from home.

Fortunately for the away side, Preston’s home form hasn’t been their strong suit. Of their five league games at Deepdale this season, they’ve won two, drawn two and lost the other.

Something that Fulham have guaranteed in their games of late is plenty of goals. In their last five games, Fulham have scored a whopping 15 goals. That’s an average of three goals per game.

The London club’s defensive record is just as impressive. In their last five games they’ve only conceded a single goal.

That will come as a major concern for Preston heading into this. The Lilywhites have conceded in four of their last five games and have only scored seven goals in that time.

This should be a fairly straightforward win for Fulham. However, the Championship is arguably one of the most competitive leagues in world football and anything can happen.

Fulham need to be on their game to avoid the same fate as Bournemouth earlier in the month.

Deepdale will be the venue for Saturday’s Championship clash…

Preston vs Fulham Head to Head

In the last five meetings between these two clubs, Preston have only won once. Fulham have won three times, with the other game ending in a draw.

Fulham won the first of those back in early 2017 by a 3-1 scoreline. The next meeting later the same year ended in a 2-2 draw. Preston went 2-0 up in the game, only for Fulham to peg them back with a last minute equaliser.

The Cottagers then won the next meeting 2-1. Aleksandar Mitrovic bagged two that day and is the current Championship top goal scorer.

Preston finally got a win in December 2019. The Lancashire club won 2-1 at Deepdale in an eventful game that saw a red card for both sides.

Fulham won the most recent meeting back in February 2020. An early second half own goal was added to by Aboubakar Kamara to secure a 2-0 win

Preston Team News – W L L W W

The hosts are expected to field a very similar side to the one that started in midweek. That will see Daniel Iversen retain his place in goal.

A defensive back three is likely to start here. That defence will be made up of Patrick Bauer, Andrew Hughes and Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg.

Alistair McCann and Ben Whiteman are expected to start in the centre of midfield. Josh Earl is likely to play in the left wing back role, with Tom Barkhuizen on the right side.

Alan Browne is expected to be brought in to start in the number ten position. Emil Riis will start the game upfront, having scored in midweek.

Ched Evans came back from a lengthy injury spell to come off the bench and score on Tuesday. He could be brought in to start the game here in place of Sean Maguire.

Marco Silva is expected to name the same side that beat Barnsley, after making some changes in midweek. Our Preston v Fulham predictions expect Marek Rodak to keep his place in goal for the visitors.

Tim Ream and Michael Hector are likely to be asked to partner each other again in the centre of defence. Antonee Robinson will get the nod at left back, with Kenny Tete at right back.

Tom Cairney and Harrison Reed are likely going to anchor the midfield for Fulham here. Harry Wilson will start on the right, with Neeskens Kebano on the left wing.

Fabio Carvalho could be asked to start in the attacking midfield role. Aleksandar Mitrovic was rested in midweek and is expected to come back into the side for this.

Preston vs Fulham Betting Tips

The hosts are the outsiders to get the three points here. The traders have the home side priced up at 3/1 in our Preston v Fulham match bets

Fulham have only been involved in two draws so far this season. However, if you think this one will end all square, you can back the draw at 5/2.

The visitors come into this as the favourites. If you think Fulham can take the points, you can back them at 5/6.

We’re backing the away side to come away from this with the win. At the odds, there’s a bit of value in that, too.
