Surprise promotion hopefuls QPR host Reading, who disposed of surprise promotion hopefuls Preston North End last weekend.
It was silver-tongued Mark Bowen’s first match in charge of the Royals and lifted them from a slough. If it is a permanent boost, then the Welshman’s appointment will be a stroke of genius by the club’s owners.
However, the trip to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium is fraught with problems. QPR sit fifth in the Championship and with a strong say in the promotion race.
All the basics point our Queens Park Rangers vs Reading predictions to a home win. But last weekend’s win makes Bowen’s team a tougher proposition than they were before the international break.

Queens Park Rangers vs Reading Predictions
Mark Warburton’s side are quietly inserting themselves into the promotion race with back-to-back wins taking them into fifth.
It’s been an up and down season for the R’s; just as they look to building up a head of steam, unbeaten runs come to an abrupt end.
However, victories over Blackburn Rovers and Hull City put the West London club back on track. Not only that, they came with plenty of goals; 4 – 2 and 3 – 2 respectively.
Those victories highlight Rangers strengths and weaknesses. Eze, Hugill and Wells have six goals apiece for a team whose 21 goals scored is only bettered by leaders West Bromwich Albion and sixth-placed Preston North End.
Fifteen of those 21 goals came in the second half of matches with QPR’s stamina shining through in the last 30 minutes of games. Not that you need much stamina when scoring goals of this quality…

Yet Rangers goal difference is zero; 21 goals scored and the same conceded. No clean sheets in the league is a worrying record Warburton will want to rectify very quickly.
This clash is as good a starting point as any. Bowen was charged with finding a new manager but ended up appointing himself – or persuading the powers-that-be he was the best man for the job.
The win over Preston was Reading’s first in eight (D2, L6) which saw them plummet into the relegation battle.
Repeating that win is a tall order for a side which has scored more than one goal only once during their six away games (W1, D2). Rangers, though, shouldn’t take the Royals lightly. Those two draws came at Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion.
Goals, however, remain in short supply. Reading aren’t the great entertainers with only one of their away games featuring more than two goals. Indeed, their twelve goals scored is the fourth-worst in the division with 17 conceded joint-fifth worst.
Times have been tough at the Madejski Stadium and are likely to remain so for some time yet. Our Queens Park Rangers vs Reading predictions all point to a home win, given the way in which their respective seasons unfurled so far.
Queens Park Rangers vs Reading Head to Head
This is the 95th meeting between the sides with Reading ahead 40 wins to 31. The remaining 23 games finished drawn. Ten of those draws came in the last 25 clashes.
Rangers are on top in recent years, losing just two of the last ten (W4, D4) while taking four points out of six last season. However, they scored just one goal to achieve that return. The corresponding fixture last season finished goalless.
It’s rarely a high-scoring affair when the pair meet. Only one of the last dozen matches saw over two goals with no more than one side scoring in each of the last five games.
Queens Park Rangers Team News
Mark Warburton is expected to name an unchanged side for this fixture following the weekend’s 3 – 2 win at Hull. One possible change, however, could be Jordan Hugill coming in for Nahki Wells.
Reading Team News
Mark Bowen is without Lucas Joao after the striker suffered a foot injury which will keep him out for six weeks. Michael Morrison is a doubt after his head injury forced a seven-minute stoppage during the win over Preston.
Otherwise, the Reading boss will keep faith with the team which won at the weekend.
